When I interview candidates for positions, I evaluate their relevant technical skills. Additionally, I also notice 5 personality traits during an interview which helps me make my mind on hiring.
- Strong
character - The person should be honest, responsible
and has integrity. He should have an
abstract thinking for making/changing a process.
- Quirky
- The person should fall on the quirky side. He
should not be a yes man or woman. An out of the box thinking is always going to
bring a lot of creativity.
- Ambitious
- Ambitious people aren't just hard workers;
they're motivated and driven to make the business run more efficiently and
constantly looking for ways to make it stronger. They're also resilient and will
find ways to overcome challenges.
- Eagerness
Lifelong learners can be valuable
to a business since they're constantly learning new skills and traits that they
can bring to the table. Besides that, lifelong learners are great at time
management, prioritizing tasks, and problem solving.
- Likeable
The person should be likeable with his
personality. Even if he isn't the most talented at his position, we would
sacrifice that for a more pleasant and productive work environment.
Please
note that interviews are subjective in nature. Each hiring manager has their
own criteria. So what fits me might not fit others. Please use your judgment and practice to
exhibit your qualities.
One
thing which is universal though is – Be
confident and comfortable with the way you are presenting yourself.
